South Fly District
Situated at the bottom of the Fly River and along the Gulf of Papua, including the Fly River delta, the South Fly District is largely affected by tidal flows, which supports extensive mangroves along the mainland and delta islands at the mouth of the river. The district covers an area of 31,864 kilometres with the latest population estimated at 46,407 (Census 2011). The South Fly District includes the Provincial capital of Daru, and is governed by four Local-Level Government (LLG) areas of Daru Urban, Kiwai Rural, Morehead Rural and Oriomo-Bituri Rural.
