Ok Tedi Development Foundation (OTDF) is committed to delivering community projects in Western Province despite the challenges the organisation is facing due to COVID-19.

OTDF demonstrated that commitment on Wednesday June 2nd when 29 officers, including CEO Havini Vira received their first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

The vaccines were part of the 1,000 doses received by Ok Tedi Mining Limited (OTML) from the National Department of Health (NDoH) last month.

Mr Vira said COVID-19 has caused a lot of challenges for his team, especially in the delivery of community projects within the Community Mine Continuation Agreement (CMCA) villages in the province.

“Since the pandemic began in March 2020, community interaction has been significantly reduced. With officers now being vaccinated, we can continue rolling out outstanding projects and programs,’’ said Mr Vira.

Staff expressed that the main reason they decided to get vaccinated was to protect not only themselves from COVID-19, but also their families and colleagues.

Mr Vira thanked the CMCA communities and development partners for their patience during these challenging times and assured them that OTDF will ensure planned activities and projects are successfully delivered.
