Mr Andrew Mari – OTDF Executive Manager Programs Services (R) presents a certificate to Nima Ara President Ruth Ukin (L)

In a recent announcement by the CEO Mr Havini Vira, the Board of directors has officially approved the appointment of Mr. Andrew Mari to the role of Executive Manager Program Services. This signals OTDF’s commitment to ensuring continuity of sustainable development in the Community Mine Continuation Agreement (CMCA) communities and Western Province.

Mr. Mari brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to his new role, making him a valuable asset to the OTDF team. His journey within Ok Tedi Mining Limited (OTML) and OTDF demonstrates his passion for sustainable development and community relations.

Andrew Mari began his career with OTML as a Graduate Development Scheme (GDS) Agriculture Officer with Regional Development in 2008. He moved to a permanent role with CR in 2010 where his commitment and dedication led to his appointment as CR Superintendent for Kiunga-Bige in 2014. During his tenure with OTML CR, he played a critical role in reviewing and renegotiating the LMP79 & LMP85 lease compensation agreements and secured these leases to allow the continuation of Bige environment mitigation project.

He was part of the CR team that led the Mine Life Extension communication and consultation with the CMCA communities and stakeholders that eventually resulted in negotiation and signing of the CMCA MLE Agreement (2012-2025). Mr Mari resigned in 2016 to pursue his postgraduate studies and successfully completed his Masters of AgriCommerce at Massey University in New Zealand before returning to join OTDF in 2019 as the Coordinator Sustainable Development. He was later promoted to Manager of Program Services & Sustainable Development in 2020. Mr Mari is a Certified Practicing Agriculturalist (CPAg) and a member of the Australian Institute of Agriculture Science and Technology.

Andrew Mari’s familiarity with both OTML and OTDF operations will be instrumental in leading the implementation of programs throughout the CMCA communities of Western Province.

Mr Vira expressed confidence in Andrew Mari’s capabilities and called upon the community and stakeholders to extend their support to the new Executive Manager in his role.
